It's an elk in Yellowstone in the summertime. This is there short summer coat. They change color in the fall. See the buffalo in the background?

It is good to be vegetarian. Paul also said, "When I am weak; then I am strong." (Cor. II 12:10). Truly strong man should be vegeterian.

I've hunted all big game all my life and this picture is odd to me. That's not an elk, it's too small, that grass is maybe a foot deep and his "knees" are just above it. Also it doesn't have the color of a normal elk, bull elk almost look yellow with a red tint in the sunlight. Now the antlers do look like elk with the 2 "eye-guards" coming out the front (not whitetail or mule deer) but still not big enough to be sure. I'm guessing this is a red deer probably in South America or the UK. Just for reference, the last elk I killed had to be quartered and backpacked out, this is way too small. It could be a ranch elk, when you take them and raise them like cattle they seem to become a totally different looking animal.

The "antlers" are not deformed, they are growing. Every year, many deer species go through a process of growing and shedding antlers. This is the stage when the antlers are covered in velvet. By the time the rut occurs, the antlers solidify and the elk will rub the velvet off, revealing solid bone. They will then use their antlers to fight for mates. I do enjoy hunting, and realize these antlers are perfectly normal and to say they are not is speaking from your ass.

you may notice that this elk has some deformed horns that is what happens when they are protected in a national park. The gean pools get freeky because they have no pereditors. Hunters help that alot.
